Anne Hathaway’s Versace Dress—And ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Reunion—Won the SAG Awards

Last night’s SAG Awards were a star-studded affair—but during the ceremony itself, three particular presenters stole the show. The Devil Wears Prada co-stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and Emily Blunt all reunited on stage to present the best male actor in a comedy series category. “By all means, move at a glacial pace—you know how that thrills me,” joked Blunt as Streep kicked off the nominees list, referencing an iconic line from their 2006 film.

For fashion fans, seeing the three stars together again brought back major feelings of nostalgia. (And hope for a sequel!) But we were particularly smitten with Hathaway’s look for the night: Her blue, off-the-shoulder Versace gown was one of the best red carpet dresses of the evening. And here’s a reason why it’s even better: Did you know that the inspiration for the look is a nod to The Devil Wears Prada, too?

The star’s stylist, Erin Walsh, told The Hollywood Reporter that the rich blue hue of her frock was actually inspired by a very famous scene in the film, in which Miranda (played by Streep) lectures Andy (played by Hathaway) about the historical significance of cerulean. “We wanted to take it back and throw a bit of a curveball,” said Walsh. “How about a little nod of archive cerulean blue Versace, on the occasion of her presenting with some old friends?” Her SAG Awards frock was more royal blue than cerulean, but we’ll let it slide—the nod back to the movie was pretty clever. And chic!
