What GA school districts are canceling, moving to virtual learning for winter weather?

Parts of the Southeast are bracing for another winter storm that will move through Tuesday.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan says the winter storm will be historic across the Gulf Coast for several cities that usually don’t see accumulating snow.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp declared a statewide State of Emergency on Monday ahead of a winter storm that will move through parts of the state on Tuesday.

Here is a list of the school districts and colleges in the Channel 2 Action News viewing area that updated their schedules for Tuesday.

Note: This list will be updated as the districts announce their plans.

  • Clayton County Schools- virtual learning on Tuesday, Jan. 21

  • Meriwether County Schools- virtual learning on Tuesday, Jan. 21

  • Rockdale County Public Schools- virtual learning on Tuesday, Jan. 21

CLOSED

  • Butts County School System- closed for students on Tuesday, Jan. 21

  • Coweta County Schools- closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21

  • Griffin-Spalding County School System – closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21

  • Henry County Schools- closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21

  • Lamar County Schools- closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21

  • Newton County Schools – closed on Tuesday, Jan. 21
