Ever inspired by Katie Holmes’s elevated everyday style, her latest weekday outfit has me excited to revive one of my old favourite denim styles with the help of a newly trending shoe.
Styling her ankle grazing cropped jeans with baby blue mary janes, Holmes added an unexpected twist to her look. Forgoing classic black mary janes or ballet flats, the actor selected a pair in the sky-blue shade that I spotted all over the S/S 2024 runways last September. Imparting a fresh and energising element to an outfit, the new-season shade offers a playful respite from the deep browns and greys we’ve been styling all winter, and brought a lively feel to Holmes’s casual outfit.

Weaving in some neutral shades, Holmes layered a beige cardigan and fresh white tee into her outfit, to ensure that her look felt relaxed and true to her personal style. Selecting a classic pair of cropped jeans, Holme’s shoe and trouser combination allowed for an exposed ankle which worked to make her simple outfit feel particularly light and spring-ready.
Whilst colourful trainers are dominating the streetwear shelves, it looks like the colourful mary jane trend could be the next to ascend. Bringing a playful edge to this sophisticated shoe, I predict that this spring the technicolour trend will expand its reign.
