Get Free Tickets to the Stern Grove Festival

In a first-of-its-kind partnership, the iconic Stern Grove Festival in San Francisco is offering music fans a new way to access this beloved free summer concert series: purchase a $150 cannabis “Golden Ticket Kit” through Solful dispensaries, which includes two premium ticket passes and a curated selection of flower, pre-rolls, edibles, and a vape. Though cannabis is still not permitted on-site, this campaign marks the first time a major public festival has officially collaborated with a legal cannabis brand.

Historically, the Stern Grove Festival has relied on a lottery system to distribute tickets, which often leaves many hopeful attendees disappointed. This partnership provides an alternative entry: limited-edition kits packed in a collectible tote, offering both convenience and exclusivity. Solful’s store manager noted that while cannabis consumption is restricted during concerts, collaborating with the festival underscores how deeply cannabis has become woven into local lifestyle and culture—even in smoke-free public settings.

From the perspective of public health, the festival’s leadership emphasized that this collaboration focuses on education and community support, not public consumption. Event organizers highlighted that the proceeds from the kit sales will help secure funding for future events, ensuring the festival remains free—part of a nonprofit mission blending arts with community values.

Culturally, this move reflects San Francisco’s evolving relationship with cannabis. Once a countercultural symbol, cannabis now intersects with mainstream cultural events—creating new paradigms for how communities engage with music, nature, and legal cannabis commerce. Organizers are quick to note: “We’re not building a smoking lounge—we’re recognizing cannabis as part of local identity and supporting the arts.”

Fans have responded with excitement and caution. Early buyers praised the kits as a fun, legal way to enjoy local strain selections. Some community members, however, urged organizers to maintain strict smoke-free policies, especially given the family-friendly, open-air nature of the festival.

The kits are only available in person at Solful locations in San Francisco, Sebastopol, and Healdsburg, and are limited in number. Additional tickets will still be released via lottery and first-come-first-served lines for those without kits. Festival organizers say the model could expand to other events if successful.

This novel collaboration may foreshadow how festivals nationwide integrate cannabis legitimacy while respecting regulations and public health. As cannabis continues gaining cultural currency, other festivals may explore similar legal partnerships—shaping a future where cannabis isn’t just backstage, but part of the broader event experience.
