This New 12-day Expedition Takes You From a Stunning National Park to the Top of Mount Kilimanjaro
Standing over 19,000 feet tall, Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa is the continent's highest point and has been a popular destination for travelers, hikers, and outdoor enthusiasts. Ranked as one of the natural wonders of the world, Mount Kilimanjaro is known for its majestic beauty and its challenging and rewarding hike.
For travelers looking to take the trek of a lifetime, a new 12-day expedition will bring guests from the famed Amboseli National Park to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro with expert guidance. The “Kilimanjaro Climb: Safari to Summit” journey takes place over the Labor Day holiday period, departing on Aug. 24, 2025, and concluding on Sept. 4, 2025.
The trip is organized by Deeper Africa, a travel company with nearly 20 years of experience planning trips throughout Africa with its expert guides. The company was also recognized in Travel + Leisure’s 2024 World’s Best Awards within the safari outfitter category.
“Travelers can discover the unparalleled beauty of Amboseli’s vast landscapes and Kilimanjaro’s majestic peaks on this unforgettable journey,” a spokesperson for Deeper Africa shared with T+L.
The company says climbing Kilimanjaro is challenging, and requires preparation such as strength and endurance training. Along the hike, the participants take part in safari wildlife viewing, camping, and summiting the mountain. The trip also includes access to 4×4 vehicles for use before the mountain hike.
“Kilimanjaro is hard, but with the right commitment, it’s an attainable and deeply rewarding experience,” Wil Smith, Deeper Africa's director, said in a statement to T+L.
The excursion costs $10,606, and the company is offering a $500 discount for bookings made before Feb. 15, 2025. The journey is described by the company as a “first-class climb” and includes upgraded accommodations, hot meals, and even a private shower with hot water.
