Monday’s webinar with FDA’s Jim Jones is open to all

An Alliance for a Stronger FDA webinar on  Monday, Nov. 13, will feature  Jim Jones,  FDA Deputy Commissioner for Human Foods. Alison Bodor of the American Frozen Foods Institute, and Thomas Gremillion of the Consumer Federation of America, will moderate.

Jones took command of the FDA Human Foods Program on Sept. 24.  He is the first to hold the position under the FDA’s current organization.

In the new executive position, Jones leads the charge in setting and advancing priorities for the new unified Human Foods Program (HFP). Program areas include food safety, chemical safety, and innovative food products, including new agricultural technologies, that will bolster the resilience of the U.S. food supply and nutrition to help reduce diet-related diseases and improve human health.

Any questions should be directed to the Alliance’s Steven Grossman at sgrossman@strengthenfda.org

Here is Grossman’s announcement of the  program.

“Just a year ago, the Reagan-Udall Foundation—at FDA’s request—was assessing problems in FDA’s Human Food Programs and formulating recommendations for a more effective organizational structure and related issues. This led to the recent appointment of James “Jim” Jones as Deputy

Commissioner for Human Foods.

“He has an extensive record of achievement while a senior EPA senior and has gained additional perspective on the FDA’s situation as a member of the RUF panel.

“Jim will address the Alliance for a Stronger FDA at a webinar on November 13 at 1 p.m. ET. For many stakeholders, this will be the first opportunity to hear Jim discuss his priorities, planned initiatives, and approach to change.”
