Swap Your Beanie for a Bold, Furry Hat This Winter

As we continue to hurdle into the depths of winter, it’s becoming untenable to leave the house without proper headwear. The act of stepping outside when it’s freezing already demands a lot of inner strength, so no shame to anybody who just wants to throw on a beanie and call it a day. But maybe, wearing a fun, funky, furry hat is a solution to at least some of our winter woe.

Over the last couple months, the stars have been showing off some of their most exciting headwear. Missy Elliott, the fuzzy bucket hat aficionado that she is, attended Burberry’s Knight Bar pop-up in white furry headwear. Keira Knightly kept it more utilitarian with a brown leather shearling-lined ushanka.

Stars have been flocking to the cozy headwear over the last several years. During his IGOR era, Tyler, the Creator favored fuzzy ushankas in a variety of colors—from practical browns and blacks to the whimsical pale pink and sunset orange. Emma Brewin has been dominating the fuzzy hat landscape, counting Rihanna, Emily Ratajkowski, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Dua Lipa, Addison Rae, and Megan Thee Stallion among the loyal fans of her fanciful bucket and cowboy hats.

But the look has been around for ages: Audrey Hepburn took the furry hat for a spin, and Arthur Elgort photographed for the pages of Vogue in the mid-’90s. So this winter, forget your tired beanie and inject some joy into your wardrobe with a hat that a character in The Lorax would wear!
