On the Podcast: The Best of Milan and Paris—And Vogue Editors on Spring Culture

Is it already the last day of February? Fashion month is coming to an end in a couple of days, and the shortest month of the year has never felt shorter. Vogue editors, celebrities, and fashion lovers alike are gathered in Paris to take in the final days of runway shows before they fly home and hopefully take a long nap—yeah, right.

Chioma joined Chloe via Zoom from the City of Light along with Francesca Ragazzi, the head of editorial content for Vogue Italia. (They logged on from their respective hotel rooms before meeting up yesterday evening for the Balmain show.) Fran, who is six months pregnant, was feeling a little worn down, but shared that she was still sporting an elegant pair of Jimmy Choo kitten heels.

Chioma and Fran went on to regale Chloe with tales of Milan—from the sights at Bottega Veneta to the delectable paninis served at the Prada show. Chioma loved Dolce & Gabbana’s designer showcase for Feben, and Fran loved Maximilian Davis’s take on the Roaring 20’s in his latest Ferragamo collection. Somehow, the pair also fit some vintage shopping into all the show-going, and Chioma bought a blue shift dress inspired by the Prada runway that she envisions sporting over a pair of jeans.

The conversation then shifted to the present, and the Paris shows Chioma and Fran had attended thus far. Saint Laurent has made a splash for the sheer, tights-like material that much of the looks were made from. Chioma admitted that her initial response to the show was to clutch her pearls, but then the group discussed the growing phenomenon of “naked dressing” and what kind of a statement these minimal-coverage clothes make. As Vogue’s resident track pant-wearer, Chioma was thrilled by Undercover’s feminist take on the working woman’s attire—including hoodies with a train and glittery sweatpants and a grocery bag. The Row is also getting a lot of buzz for the no-social media policy at their show, spurring a conversation about quiet luxury and the heightened exclusivity of a collection that only the people in the room can appreciate. Did the show really happen if it isn’t all over your Instagram Stories?
