Jennifer Lopez’s Post-Ben Hair Is Inspired By A ’90s Icon
If you’ve followed hair trends closely over the last few years, you might have developed something akin to whiplash. First, we slicked back every strand, baby hair and flyaway, relying on sticks, wands and balms to stop them from springing free. Then came the gravity-defying blow dry, characterized by swinging ends and reflective shine. Next, the return of textured, grungy, unbrushed hair, first popularized by festival girls Kate Moss and Alexa Chung. As a hair-obsessed community, we lapped it all up.
Peppered in among these trends was the “Pam,” a tousled, undone updo inspired by Pamela Anderson at the height of her fame in the 1990s. Defined by a haphazard pile of hair on top of the head, two pieces left out to frame the face, and a general rumpled energy, Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, and Anya Taylor-Joy have all experimented with the look. This weekend, Jennifer Lopez joined their ranks.

Seen attending the 2025 Sundance Film Festival in Utah, Lopez sparkled in a sheer, glitter-webbed gown paired with an iridescent nude manicure and smoky, neutral-toned makeup. The pièce-de-résistance? Her piece-y, side-swept, caramel updo created by celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton.
