Cazzie David Returns to Paris for Patou…And Gluten-Free Croissants

Larry David may not enjoy fashion shows, but that trait seemed to skip right over his daughter Cazzie David. The writer, director, and actor—whose forthcoming film I Love You Forever will debut at SXSW—jetted off to Paris to catch Patou’s fall 2024 ready-to-wear show alongside guests Tommy Dorfman, Zooey Deschanel, and Kelly Rutherford (the later of whom the Gossip Girl fan was very excited to see).

Not only was David teeming with excitement about the show, she was thrilled to be back in Paris for the first time in more than 15 years. “I haven’t been here since I was 13 and ruined the family trip with my jet lag,” she says. “It turns out I’m still really bad at handling jet lag. There’s obviously not a more beautiful city to be jet-lagged in though.” On the morning of the show, David combatted her sleep deprivation with a cold shower and a cappuccino—which she promptly spilled all over her white bathrobe. C’est la vie!

David tells Vogue that she’s making the most of her trip on the food front. “I’m a full blown stereotype of an American tourist eating only baguettes and cheese every day,” she says. Though some regional habits are hard to break. “My friend and I have, embarrassingly enough, been on a gluten-free-croissant crawl. You can take the girl out of LA…”

When it comes time for the show, the writer is leaning into the element of surprise. “I did my best not to wear black because it’s an ongoing joke with my friends that I never wear color, so I wanted to surprise them,” she says, “by wearing black…with a pink bag.” Jokes aside, David did break out the color for the after party, donning a baby blue skirt suit. While she seems to be living the American in Paris fantasy, she still has one more thing on her list: “hopefully a full night’s sleep.”
