Here’s the Only Denim Trend You Need to Know About in 2024

In 2024, the classic blue or black denim is set aside in favor of another equally desirable and easy-to-wear shade: gray jeans. Just take a look at the latest Fashion Week shows and you’ll see how popular this chromatic brightness is. So much so, in fact, that they’re sure to find their way into every piece in our wardrobes.

The most recognizable denim model—the one we all know—is the indigo blue-tinted jeans, with pockets and sturdy rivets, patented by Jacob Davis and Levi Strauss, tailor and textile company owner respectively, in 1873. Today, it’s a wardrobe staple. After the y2k-inspired craze surrounding brown denim that took fashion by storm in 2023, gray will be the denim color of the year.

Diesel spring-summer 2024

Many designers and fashion houses revisited the trend on the catwalks of spring 2024 fashion week—proving that gray jeans can be worn with everything. At Loewe, they were given a very (very) high waist and replaced suit pants, redefining the lines of the officewear trend. At Diesel, the denim ace, it comes in a washed-out total look, while Maria Grazia Chiuri for Dior turned it into a skirt/jacket ensemble that’s both chic and casual. Even high-profile celebrities are hopping on the trend: Bella Hadid was spotted in the streets of New York wearing an oversized denim pant, right on trend.
