Southwest Airlines 737 returns to airport after engine cover falls off (NYSE:LUV)

A Boeing (NYSE:BA) 737-800 operated by Southwest Airlines (NYSE:LUV) returned to Denver International Airport after the crew reported a cowling, or removable cover, fell off an engine during takeoff and struck a wing flap, the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said on Sunday.
The carrier said Southwest Flight 3695 to Houston took off at 7:39 a.m. local time and landed safely at 8:14 a.m. after the issue was reported.
The plane, which was carrying 135 passengers and six crew, was towed to the gate. The FAA said it began an investigation into the incident.
The agency report didn’t indicate the type of engine on the plane. The 737-800 typically is powered by two wing-mounted CFM56 engines made by CFM International. Seeking Alpha is seeking more information about the manufacturer.
