Beyond Meat launches new burger patties at Costco

Beyond Meat says it revamped its plant-based burger offering and is debuting the new product exclusively at Costco.

Capitalizing on the potential for new consumers who might be interested in New Year lifestyle changes, the new patties have 19 grams of protein per patty, and, as the company touts on its package, contain 35% less saturated fat compared to a standard 80/20 beef burger, without any cholesterol, added antibiotics, or hormones.

The end of the year is full of group gatherings and the start of the New Year brings renewed focus on lifestyle choices, so this window offered us an opportunity to introduce an updated value pack during a time in which shoppers will be looking for delicious, convenient and nutritious options that everyone can enjoy,” a Beyond Meat spokesperson said in a statement sent to Food Dive

The revamped burgers, which the company says are “closer in taste to beef” are sold frozen in packs of 10.

2023 has proved difficult for Beyond Meat. In November, it reported negative sales growth for the sixth quarter in a row. CEO Ethan Brown has said the company is looking to exit certain product lines in the U.S., rework its pricing strategy, reduce working capital and focus on geographies and markets that are exhibiting revenue growth.
