4 New Starbucks Frappuccinos Are Coming, and They’re the Definition of Summer Energy

  • Starbucks is launching four new Frappuccinos this July.
  • The “Strato” name refers to the drinks’ layered build, featuring visually striking ingredients like raspberry pearls, strawberry puree swirls, and vanilla cold foam.
  • One of the flavors — the Firework Frappuccino — is rumored to debut on July 1, coinciding with Fourth of July celebrations, though Starbucks has not confirmed exact release dates.

On the hottest days of the year, all we can think about is an ice-cold frozen drink. Those days are just around the corner, and we’re looking forward to some refreshing new drinks that will hopefully cool us down.

Starbucks is kicking off summer celebrations with four new Frappuccinos, a brand representative tells Food & Wine. The warm-weather season begins on a high note with the Firework Frappuccino, Brown Sugar Strato Frappuccino, Strawberry Matcha Strato Frappuccino, and Salted Caramel Mocha Strato Frappuccino — all slated to quench visitors’ thirst starting this July.

“Strato” is derived from the Latin word meaning “layered,” hinting at the build of this new Frappuccino lineup. Translation: They’ll look stunning on the Instagram grid — a lá Erewhon’s layered smoothie delights — but you might wait a little longer in the Starbucks pickup line as baristas assemble your drink.

In terms of the exact timeline, Starbucks is keeping all other details under wraps. The Firework Frappuccino — alluding to classical Americana and summertime celebrations — is set to arrive “in time for the Fourth of July,” as Starbucks tells Food & Wine via email. The Seattle-based coffee giant declined to comment further on the menu or specific launch dates.

That might be all that Starbucks HQ is willing to reveal at this time, but we’ve fortunately spotted a few rumors circulating online. Trusted food blogger Markie Devo — known for his sneak peeks of chain menus — revealed the full details.

According to his sources, the Firework Frappuccino is based on the Summer Berry Refresher with coconut milk, raspberry pearls, and swirls of strawberry puree. It’s all topped off with a layer of thick vanilla cold foam, as Devo speculates. All that sweetness is rumored to hit menus on July 1 and remain available until July 7, with the full Frappuccino menu to follow.

The latest Frappuccino-focused launch may surprise some, especially those following the Seattle-based company’s “Back to Starbucks” initiative under CEO Brian Niccol. In February, the coffee giant discontinued a staggering 13 drinks — including nine of its blended Frappuccinos — as part of a long-term strategy to cut 30% of the existing menu by September. In the announcement, Starbucks says the move will realign its image to its “core identity.”

Either way, we’ll just have to wait for the taste test.
