What to Know About World of Hyatt’s ‘500 Reasons to Stay Somewhere New’ Promotion

Another year, another race to hotel rewards points. Guests who stay at a new Hyatt property within a certain timeframe (typically within the first few months of opening) will get 500 bonus points for every night they stay. Registration isn’t required for this promotion, known as the “500 Reasons to Stay Somewhere New” bonus, and it doesn’t prevent you from earning points with other offers. Simply make a reservation at a new Hyatt, stay there, and wait a few days for the bonus to hit your account — that’s it. 

Every month, World of Hyatt updates the list of new hotels where travelers can earn these bonus points. And already, there are some phenomenal options for 2025. Hyatt is on a new openings roll, with plans to launch 50 luxury hotels by 2026. This month, several notable locations are participating in the 500 Reasons to Stay Somewhere New bonus including Park Hyatt London River Thames, which opened in October 2024 in the city’s bustling Nine Elms neighborhood; Grand Hyatt Deer Valley in Park City, Utah, which gives guests easy access to the ski resort’s famed slopes; and Cheyenne Mountain Resort in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where guests can enjoy water sports at the property’s lake or Front Range vistas while dining at the Mountain View Restaurant. 

World of Hyatt points are highly coveted in the rewards game. Hyatt is the last major hospitality brand that still uses an award chart. Many of its competitors, including Marriott, Hilton, and IHG have ditched award charts for surge pricing models, which makes the points cost of a nightly stay fluctuate wildly based on demand. While you can still occasionally score deals by planning visits to properties during the off-season, it's much easier to snag a good-value stay with the consistency and predictability that an award chart provides.
