United States sovereign ratings affirmed at S&P; outlook remains stable (DXY)

- S&P Global Ratings affirmed the United States’ AA+ long-term and A-1+ short-term sovereign credit ratings on Wednesday. Its outlook remains stable.
- The outlook “reflects the U.S.’s institutional checks and balances, strong rule of law, and free flow of information that contribute to stability and predictability in economic policies,” the credit ratings company said.
- “The resilience of American institutions, its economy, and the size and depth of its financial market sustain the U.S. dollar’s status as the world’s premier reserve currency and support policy flexibility,” it added.
- Meanwhile, “comparatively weak fiscal indicators that continue to constrain the sovereign credit rating offset those strengths.”
- Bipartisan efforts to strengthen the nation’s fiscal profile, such as lowering deficits and tackling budgetary rigidities, remain elusive, S&P said.
