Trump picks Ohio Senator Vance as running mate; Rumble shares jump (NASDAQ:RUM)

Former president Donald Trump selected Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his vice presidential running mate as the Republican National Convention began Monday in Milwaukee, and shares in conservative-focused media platform Rumble (NASDAQ:RUM) jumped as much as 29% on the news.

Vance is an investor in Rumble through his venture capital firm, Narya Capital, and has personally invested as much as $300,000 in the platform. His stake may be worth as much as $1.5M today.

The platform serves as a leading destination for conservative content by allowing unfettered speech, and securities filings show that the VP candidate’s firm is among the top 10 shareholders of the company.

More than 15.5 million RUM shares changed hands by 3:41 p.m. ET on the Nasdaq, 15.6x its 3-month daily moving average.

Stock in Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT) were up 32% going into Monday’s close; the stock had been significantly higher today in its first market action since a Saturday assassination attempt at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania.

Rumble stock (RUM) closed 20.7% higher, while Trump Media (DJT) ended the day 31.4% higher.
