This U.S. State Is No. 1 in the Country for Weddings

Looking for a fantastic place to get married in the United States? Perhaps it's time you look around New England.

In early June, jewelry company Glamira released its data that broke down the best states to get married in based on five categories including the number of fine jewelry and bridal stores in each state, the number of entertainment and nightlife venues, the number of event spaces and the number of romantic hotels, overall average wedding expenses, and the number of wedding planning services like florists, photographers, beauty, and designers. It then took all this information and gave each state a normalized score out of 100.

After looking at all that data, the team named Vermont the best state to get hitched.

“Vermont takes the crown, with a final index score of 73.88 out of 100. The state ranks first in two categories, including wedding venues and accommodations and wedding planning and other services,” the team shared in its findings. “There are 603 florists and floral services to choose from in Vermont, as well as 489 photography services and 479 beauty and grooming services.”

Following closely behind in second place is Rhode Island, which scored 64.86. “The state ranks second for wedding planning and other services and has the best access to bridal attire and accessories,” the company shared about the state that's also close to my heart as it's where I got married in 2021. “There are 1.34 jewelers per 100,000 people in Vermont, which is 688% above the national average of 0.17, as well as 440 fine jewelry and accessories stores.”

Rounding out the top three is the Western state of Montana, which scored an impressive 63.85 thanks to its large list of food and entertainment services and for its more affordable wedding expenses. “In 2023, for example, the average spending on engagement rings in Montana was $21,905, which is $4,730 below the national average in America,” the team stated.

As for the rest of the top 10, that goes to Maine in fourth, followed by New Hampshire, Louisiana, Florida, Tennessee, Nebraska, and Missouri, ensuring there's something sprinkled across the nation for everyone. And before you jet off for that wedding, just make sure you've got these destination wedding essentials all packed.
