This U.S. Ski Tour Lets You Ski at 6 Iconic Resorts in a Single Day — and It’s in a State Known for ‘the Greatest Snow on Earth’
For skiers, few things compare to the thrill of carving through powder and exploring new terrain. And while you can ski all over the world, some of the best turns are found in Utah, a state that coined the slogan “The Greatest Snow on Earth” in 1960 and has been living up to the moniker ever since.
The Ski Utah Interconnect Tour plays on Utah’s ski notoriety by leading riders on an epic one-day traverse of the Wasatch Mountains stopping at six legendary Utah resorts. The journey includes time spent in the backcountry and turns in untracked terrain. This experience is “not designed for the timid” and should only be booked by advanced and expert skiers.
The full Interconnect Tour departs from Deer Valley Resort in Park City, leading skiers on a traverse along the Wasatch Mountain range with visits to Park City Mountain Resort, Solitude, Brighton, Alta, and Snowbird. It covers an average of 25 miles and up to six ski areas in a single day. There is also an option to start the tour from Snowbird, although this route is more physically demanding and requires stronger skiing. Private tour groups have the option to customize their departure location and create their own route.
Although the tour is only available to advance to expert skiers, no backcountry experience is required. Interconnect Tour guides are trained in snow safety and backcountry etiquette. For safety reasons, participants must be 15 years or older and those between the ages of 15 and 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. In addition, due to the nature of the tour and the fact that it includes visits to two ski-only resorts (Deer Valley and Alta), snowboarding is not allowed.
The Interconnect Tour operates once daily seven days a week from the end of December to early April, conditions permitting. Typically, the best time to take the tour is between mid-February and mid-March, when the snow coverage is reliable and there’s fresh snow.
The standard “Open Tour” is $525 per person and requires at least two reservations to operate. The maximum group size is eight people and the tour route (starting in Deer Valley or Snowbird) is chosen by the initiating reservation. The Private Tour is $1,995 for up to three people, then $450 per person for any additional group members. The maximum private group size is 12 people.
Lunch and transportation are included with both Open and Private Tour bookings.
Skiers can also get a 25 percent discount on Rossignol demos for the tour through a partnership between the Ski Utah Interconnect Tour and Cole Sport. Riders can pick up their tour-specific demos in downtown Park City or at the base of Deer Valley Resort.
