This New-Moon-in-Capricorn Bath Ritual Will Bring Focus

If you thought December would be a chill month astrologically, think again. From the first day of the month, we welcomed the Sag new moon, which arrived days after Mercury retrograde in Sag on Nov. 25. While the new moon helped to get you pumped up and optimistic, the retrograde also happening in the same sign didn’t make it easy to get there. The Full Moon in Gemini followed, peaking on Dec. 15, the same day Mercury was stationed direct. This created a nice vibe for deep conversations and new connections to occur. The time was also ripe for ending toxic relationships once and for all, so you could truly find your people and stop messing with the fake ones.

But that’s not it. December has more for us when we welcome a second new moon this month to close out the 2024 calendar year. If you’ve been utilizing the power of these magnificent super moons since August, life-shifting eclipses, and auspicious portal dates like 11/11 and 12/12 to work your magic and create a life dreams are made of, this final new moon is the Universe’s gift to you. Use it to fill all the space you cleared with your renewed sense of purpose and explosive self-love that will attract the things you want to bring into your reality. If this is your first time working with the moon, welcome. Life is about to get interesting.

The New Moon in Capricorn is considered a Black Moon because it is rare to have two new moons in the same month. Since December kicked off with a new moon and will now end with one, consider it to be the ultimate holiday gift. This special gift allows you to step up and create the life you know you were meant to live. No more pussyfooting around. The time is now. December 2024 provided electric optimism with the Sag new moon, and now ushers in the Earth sign to ground you and keep you focused on where you are now and where you want to be.

You may have already begun seeing shifts in your life. Maybe you finally landed the job you’ve been dreaming of, or that partner your heart has desired for so long has arrived, and it’s still unbelievable. On the flip, if you lost a job or a relationship ended, it may not feel like a win, but almost always, it’s the Universe clearing the debris from your path so you can move on to better, more aligned things. Either way, trust is a huge part of seeing the magic unfold in your life.

Capricorns want to succeed. Represented by the half goat, half fish shows this sign of fluidity even if it’s of the Earth element. So, touch down and connect with the pulse of our planet and dig deep, asking yourself what you want and what goals you’re trying to reach. How can you better handle your life’s responsibilities? What do you need to do today to set yourself up better in the future?

You see someone else excelling in the career and with the status you desire and wonder how you will ever get there. Remind yourself that in those moments, the people you see already there had to start from somewhere, too. Release the need to control everything along the journey, and instead, lean into faith and trust that the words you speak and the intentions you set are the seeds you are planting for the most robust harvest of your life yet.

Spiritual Baño Ritual for the New Moon in Capricorn

Ingredients:

Sea salt

Dragon’s Blood Sage

Palo Santo

Florida Water

Herbs: rosemary, sage, cinnamon

Candle: red

Flowers: pansy, holly, and carnations

Essential oils: cedarwood, geranium, chamomile, and frankincense

Crystals: garnet, tanzanite, lapis lazuli, turquoise

Ritual:

1. The calendar year is a day or two away from completion. It’s a great time to clean your space, eliminate clutter, and create energetic spaciousness.

2. It’s important to be grateful throughout the process of this end-of-year Capricorn new moon ritual. Light some Dragon’s Blood sage, allowing the red to represent your groundedness and root chakra balance, while the smoke cleanses your space and you.

3. Follow that with some palo santo smoke to seal in all the goodness the sage created. Don’t forget to circle yourself with the smoke and thank the sacred plant for its healing properties.

4. Play some music you enjoy as you prepare your baño. Sing, dance, laugh, and speak your intentions out loud as you begin filling your bath with warm water.

5. Grab a few handfuls of herbs and sprinkle them over the water, thanking these herbal companions for being a part of your magic. Mix the herbs in with your hands as you pray and give thanks.

6. Follow that with two cups of sea salt and mix in with your hands until dissolved. This is a good time to speak your wishes into the water, which has memory and will carry your words.

7. Add a few splashes of Florida Water and several drops of essential oils, and mix in with your hands. Breathe deeply and allow the aromatherapy to ground you.

8. Grab some flower petals and cover the top of your baño water with as many or as little as you’d like. Thank the flowers for their beauty, fragrance, and healing energy. Flowers are a wonderful reminder of a plant’s journey before blossoming its natural beauty for all to see. They are a reflection of us.

9. Remember that as you intuitively find a spot to create a New Moon in the Capricorn altar. Once you do, place the vase with flowers, your candle, and crystals. You can also add your new moon wishlist if you’d like. Then, spark the flame and allow that to symbolize your magic.

10. Soak in your bath for 20-to-40 minutes. Air dry if you can, or pat yourself dry with a towel. Follow with whatever your body needs at that moment. Listening to your bodily cues will ensure more clarity in the new year.
