This Genius, Mess-Preventing Tool Is Only $14 Today

I rarely buy new versions of kitchen tools I already have. If something gets the job done well and has stood the test of time in my rotation, I figure that new bells and whistles won’t add too much to the experience. When it comes my box grater, I’ve been pretty satisfied with the old, no-name one I’ve had for well over a decade, relying on it often for latkes, hash browns, grated cheese, carrots (I adore a French carrot salad), and tomatoes for a fresh sauce or pan con tomate.

A new box grater was definitely not on my list of new tools to pick up — until I saw that Gorilla Grip’s XL premium box grater, which has a container to catch ingredients and prevent a shredded mess, is 42% off right now.

In my opinion, this deal is simply too good to pass up. At 5 x 3.1 x 9.2 inches, it has a large grating surface area hospitable for a hefty potato, large block of cheese, or wide tomato. There’s also a soft grip handle, so it’s comfortable to use for extended periods. (If you’ve ever grated pounds of potatoes and onions, you know that it can be taxing on the hand and bicep.) This grater also has a slip-resistant base, which is great for quick uses.

Perhaps most notably, it has a clever container that fits on the bottom to catch and store your food, smartly preventing a mess of shredded cheese or veggies from cluttering your counter. The container also has handy cup and ounce measurement lines, which is a pretty genius addition. If I had a nickel for the number of times I’ve been grating parmesan, mozzarella, or onion and wished for a quicker way to measure my progress… I’d surely have enough money to buy this now-$14 box grater.

This grater has over 5,600 five-star ratings at Amazon. One shopper called it “the best one I have used in 60 years of cooking” and went on to call it “a genius tool.” They also pointed out that they actually used it to store cheese when not grating it, which is something I’d never have thought of. Another shopper noted that since their husband has big hands, the “sturdy and durable” extra-large grater was the right choice. They also cited the catch-all dish as a great bonus, calling the whole thing “amazingly made.” Someone else said they bought this Gorilla Grip tool to replace a 15-year-old grater and would highly recommend making the switch. “Sometimes, simple tools are the best,” they said.

Whatever you use a box grater for, this is one tool where you definitely want a comfortable, mess-resistant option. Grab Gorilla Grip’s XL grater while it’s only $14.
