These Cotton On Linen Pants Are Perfect for Travel

As an avid shopper, my closet is often overflowing with clothes, which makes packing for trips a precarious experience. Having to choose the right travel pants to bring with me—and which ones to leave behind—has historically been a stressful affair; that is, until I stumbled on the Haven Wide-Leg Pants from Cotton On. Now, I always reach for these lightweight bottoms. 

Versatile, simple, and comfortable, they’ve become my most-worn item and favorite travel companion. In fact, I’ve brought them on every beach vacation for the past two years, from California to Italy, and most recently, Mexico. 

Cotton On Haven Wide-leg Linen Pants

The Cotton On Haven Pants are made with 55 percent linen and are easy to throw on with just about anything. On my last vacation, I wore them poolside with a bikini and later paired them with a matching linen shirt for dinner. Thanks to the lightweight fabric, they hardly took up any space (I could pack two in my carry-on bag), and they won’t weigh you down in a hot climate. There’s nothing worse than feeling your clothes stick to you, but linen solves that issue, providing maximum breathability. 

Though these pants are my tried-and-true favorites, I’ve been looking for more trendy alternatives (what can I say? I love to shop!) to stock up on before summer. This pair of pants has the lowest linen content at 30 percent, but they’re a more affordable, near-identical alternative to the Cotton On design. Since these are meant to be worn time and time again, the manufacturer added a few bells and whistles, like functional side pockets and an adjustable drawstring waist. The lighter color options are lined for extra opacity, so you don’t have to worry about the fabric wearing out. Reviewers report that these pants do run a bit long, but that’s to account for the inevitable shrinkage that comes with washing them. 

Anrabess Linen Palazzo Pants

These breezy pants are airy, breathable, and have an ultra-thick elastic waist that’s high enough to pair with crop tops. Thanks to the flexible waist and flowy wide-leg silhouette, you can move around freely without sacrificing your comfort. Unfortunately, their length isn’t tall girl-approved, but according to other reviewers, they’re a “great fit for petite gals.”

Old Navy Wide-leg Linen Blend Pants

Like my favorite pair from Cotton On, these Old Navy pants are made with a linen-rayon blend, making them an affordable alternative to fully organic options. This version has an elastic waist for those who aren’t keen on the look of drawstrings, and functional back pockets as well. Reviewers applaud the pants' comfortable fabric, noting that they don’t shrink in the wash. Not only are they available in nine colors, three lengths, and carried up to a 4XL, but they’re also on sale right now for 25 percent off. 

Everlane Linen Easy Pants

Everlane’s line of Easy Pants is famous for a reason: They’re simple, chic, and, well… easy to style, as their name suggests. This pair is made with soft flax linen material, like my favorites from Cotton On, but is designed with a slimmer fit. While I always go for linen fabrics during the warmer months, these pants also come in a slightly stretchy cotton blend.

Madewell Pull-on Linen Barrel Pants

These pull-on linen pants are lightweight and easy to slip on and off. Featuring a trendy barrel leg silhouette, these pants are wider around the hips and thighs and slightly tapered toward the ankle. The back of the waistband is elastic, providing even more roomy comfort. As if these 100 percent linen pants weren’t already amazing, Madewell offers a wide range of sizes (2XS — 3XL) and three different inseam lengths, making it easy to find your perfect fit. 

J. Crew Wide-leg Linen Essential Pants 

Calling all trouser lovers: This option from J. Crew is the perfect lightweight alternative to traditional work pants. This pair features a wide-leg fit that’s roomy without being too oversized, as well as pleats that create a polished look. J Crew offers this style in eight colors (I’ve got my eye on the French Blue shade above), so you can select a pair that fits seamlessly into your existing wardrobe. Add a waist-cinching belt and a pair of knit loafers, and you’ll feel—and look—like a million bucks.

BP Linen Beach Pants

Leave it to Nordstrom to nail a budget-friendly 100 percent linen pant. This pair comes in three colors—black, tan, and white—and includes an adjustable drawstring waist so you can customize the fit. At just $60, they’re an affordable way to add high-quality linen to your spring and summer wardrobe.

Caslon Yarn Dye Linen Blend Pants

If you’re looking for a comfortable, no-brainer pair of pants you can throw on and go, these are the right ones for you. These drawstring pants feature a stylish zig-zag vertical stripe pattern throughout. The cream and grey color combination is classic and neutral, making it easy to pair with a variety of tops. Additionally, these pants are crafted with 55 percent linen and are machine-washable. 

Gap Linen-Blend Relaxed Straight Ankle Pants
