Last night, the 2025 NAACP Image Awards in Los Angeles honored the outstanding achievements of Black performers and artists across film, television, music, and literature. The 56th annual ceremony, which was hosted by comedian Deon Cole, had a star-studded turnout—with special stars like Keke Palmer (who nabbed the entertainer of the year award), Kerry Washington, Queen Latifah, and Quinta Brunson earning their respective trophies throughout the night.
Shortly before the grand event kicked off, of course, the red carpet was a fashion spectacle. Celebrities hit the step and repeat in their most elegant evening attire—ranging from couture gowns to slick suits. Wicked star Cynthia Erivo, for one, chose a tailored pinstripe Dolce & Gabbana suit, while Kamala Harris wore a custom LaQuan Smith look that included a satin evening blazer, silk pussybow blouse, and pinstriped trousers.
Kerry Washington delivered dramatic whimsy in a floral-appliqué Prada bra top and ball-appropriate skirt. Emilia Perez star and awards season darling Zoe Saldana sported a silver polka-dotted Margiela dress, complete with sculptural Tabi heels made in collaboration with Christian Louboutin, while Ayo Edebiri also dazzled in metallic—hers a draped, halter-style dress.
Clearly, the fashion M.O. for the night was for stars to have fun with their looks: There was a sense of celebration and lightheartedness that was less pressure than, say, the Oscars. And when style can be spontaneous, it often results in the best moments.
