The Best Looks from the 2024 NAACP Image Awards

Another weekend, another fashionable awards show red carpet. Last Night, the 55th Annual NAACP Image Awards were held in Los Angeles, honoring Black performers across film, television and music. Hosted by Queen Latifah and aired live on BET, the awards saw a who’s who of Hollywood in attendance: Oprah, Kerry Washington, Usher, and Keke Palmer were all there; Quinta Brunson, Idris Elba, Taraji P. Henson, and Damson Idris were, too.

The celebratory evening included a performance by Adra Day and the induction of New Edition into the NAACP Image Awards Hall of Fame. On the awards front, “The Color Purple” emerged as the big winner of the night, with Fantasia Barrino taking home the trophy for Outstanding Actress; Henson and awards season darling Colman Domingo winning for their supporting roles; and the film nabbing Outstanding Motion Picture. Following his wildly successful Las Vegas residency and unforgettable Super Bowl LVIII halftime show, Usher was named Entertainer of the Year. The performer also took home the President’s Award for years of public service through his New Look foundation, aimed at uplifting underserved youth.

Fashion took center stage as well. Veteran stylist June Ambrose—dressed in a dramatic, floral-motif Bibhu Mohapatra dress—was honored with the Vanguard Award, and Queen Latifah commanded the ceremony in several looks styled by Jason Rembert, among them a regal Harbison Studio gown and a caped Oscar de La Renta dress. The carpet saw a mix of famed houses (Yara Shahidi in Ferragamo) and emerging, independent labels (India Amarteifio in Tolu Coker). Translation: this was our kind of night. Ahead, all the best looks from the 2024 NAACP Image Awards.
