It’s officially summer, which means it’s time for the summer dress—an effortless seasonal hero piece—to shine. This has certainly been the case on red carpets recently: The best dressed stars of the week all slipped into designs that felt modern and elevated, ranging from slinky, minimalist slip dresses to bold cocktail dresses in sprightly florals.
Stars like Alexa Chung proved a clean, simple dress can still have a major impact. At the Serpentine Gallery Summer Party in London, Chung opted for a green Nensi Dojaka slip with cutouts in all the right places. Meanwhile, at the A Quiet Place: Day One premiere in New York, Lupita Nyong’o turned a classic black dress into a statement piece, wearing a Prada design covered in glimmering sequins.
The week saw bolder displays of fahsion, too. At the Schiaparelli couture show in Paris, Kylie Jenner slipped into the label’s corseted pink gown—complete with a dramatic veil. And for the season three premiere of The Bear in L.A., Ayo Edebiri continued her winning Loewe streak, sporting the label’s floral strapless dress with a bubble hemline.
