The Best Dressed Stars of the Week Brought Summer Style to Fall

It may be peak cozy season right now, but according to this week’s red carpets, summer style is still in full swing. Between the peppy colors and slinky silhouettes, A-listers embraced warm weather dressing—meaning, no bulky coats or knitwear here!

If autumnal style is all about layering and proportions, the best dressed stars of the week embraced standalone statement pieces instead—as seen at some of the week’s buzziest events, from the star-studded Academy Museum Gala in L.A. to the theatrical Victoria’s Secret fashion show in New York City.

There were plenty of fabulous looks to be spotted at last night’s Academy Gala, but a few shined especially bright. Namely, Greta Lee in her floral Loewe gown with a tiered skirt, and Kaia Gerber in her archival black Givenchy dress with intricate beadwork; both looks took antique finishes and made them feel fresh and modern.

Elsewhere, the standout ensembles were a little more slinky. Tyla turned heads at the Victoria’s Secret show in New York in her deconstructed pink Salih Balta dress, which had cutouts in all the right places. Ditto for Zendaya in her vintage Bob Mackie crystal-studded gown at the 2024 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. It was giving Cher—which was only right, given Zendaya was there to present the legendary singer with an award. (Elsewhere, Peter Dundas created a glittery gold number for inductee Mary J. Blige inspired by torch singers in the 1940s and 1950s.)

That’s not to say more subtle style moments didn’t have an impact this week, though. At Vogue’s Forces of Fashion event in New York, Nicki Minaj looked sleek in her body-hugging Alaïa dress. And at the NYC premiere of Anora, Mikey Madison—a rising red carpet star—looked elegant in her red strapless Schiaparelli dress.
