Severe storm leaves a trail of destruction in Austin. See photos, videos of damage
A severe storm that passed through the Austin area Wednesday evening left a trail of damage and thousands without power.
The storm damaged electrical equipment and broke tree limbs, leaving nearly 60,000 Austin Energy customers without power as of 10 p.m., according to the utility’s website. There is no estimated timeline for when power will be restored, according to a statement on the utility’s website.
Some buildings were damaged, too.

Several reporters shared on social media Wednesday that a glass panel in the Capitol had been blown out and water was leaking inside parts of the building.
At a gas station on Greystone Drive in North Austin, the canopy covering the pumps collapsed on top of a car.
