A number of people have been injured after a car drove into a group in the German city of Munich, police said.
The incident took place in the city’s central Stiglmaierplatz, where the trade union Verdi had been organising a protest linked to a strike.
Police said that they had detained the driver and that he no longer posed any threat to the public.
The incident comes as senior officials from around the world prepare to gather in the city for the annual Munich Security Conference and just over a week before Germany holds federal elections on February 23.
