Sergio Hudson Fall 2025 Ready-to-Wear Collection

Every season you can count on Sergio Hudson to have the (completely fabulous) American supermodel Veronica Webb close out his show—and her presence felt especially fitting this tonight, given that Hudson’s fall collection was “a celebration of American sportswear,” he said backstage pre-show. “I grew up loving and watching Donna Karan, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Michael Kors—they would always have these amazing layered pieces. I wanted to bring back excitement to that, and remind people of what that is.”

Hudson’s take on signature Americana wasn’t so literal with a stars-and-striped, denim-and-tees approach. Rather, the designer zeroed in on looks that were extremely versatile and wearable in spirit—pointing to a clean, easy wardrobe of separates that designers like Klein dominated the ’90s with. Of course, Hudson had to put his own stamp on the mood, offering his signature tailoring and power coats fit for a modern power woman. His opening look, for instance, was a cropped red Mongolian fur coat paired with a satin top and high-waisted trousers—like a more fanciful version of Penny Lane.

Hudson’s focus on no-brainer layering—American style is, if one thing, unfussy—shone through with classic dress shirts worn under V-neck sweaters, or hefty double-breasted wool coats styled over streamlined day dresses. They were all pieces that you could imagine just about anyone looking good in. Hudson also introduced knitwear this season, including delicious chunky cashmeres. All those pieces were made here in New York City, going back to his love of homegrown design. “Nowadays, people are so quick to run across to the other side of the world for their fashions,” said Hudson. “I feel like we get a little undervalued. But we buy the same fabrics here, and our artisans are just as talented.”

The real standouts, though, were the suits—naturally. There’s something about the way Hudson cuts a three-piece suit, this season styled with traditional shirts and ties, that just continues to feel so current. (For men, he also did sleek leather trenches and velvet suiting, not to be missed.) It’s no wonder that power players such as Dr. Jill Biden and Michelle Obama keep coming back to his tailored looks. For fall, Hudson brought them to life in sumptuous shades of purples, reds, and electric blues. The Sergio Hudson woman, after all, isn’t afraid of a commanding color. “Our customer wants it,” Hudson said. “I did a spring capsule collection where it was all neutrals—and nobody bought it!”
