Resy Launches a Series of Collabs: Dream Team Dinners

What if you could cook with your hero? For eight rising chefs across the country, that question isn’t hypothetical — it’s the foundation of Dream Team Dinners, a new series from Resy pairing emerging culinary voices with the mentors, icons, and inspirations they’ve long admired. Each event is a one-night-only collaboration — and an invitation to witness legacy in motion.

“Resy Dream Team Dinners spotlight the chefs defining the future of hospitality—and the creative forces that inspire them,” Hannah Kelly, Resy’s chief marketing officer, told Food & Wine. “Visionary chefs like Yara Herrera, Tam Pham, Sam Yoo, and Demetrius Brown inspire us every day, and we’re honored to share their stories with guests.”

These aren’t just buzzy dinners with celebrity cameos. They’re deeply personal, chef-led expressions of admiration and shared creativity. In each city, the younger chef selected their collaborator — sometimes choosing a food world luminary, sometimes a cultural figure whose influence stretches beyond the kitchen. The result is a lineup that feels both surprising and sincere.

As part of the series, each participating chef also penned a short essay or love letter to their chosen collaborator, offering a rare glimpse into the intention behind the pairings. In her piece about Martha Stewart, Chef Yara Herrera writes: “Her voice and vision were part of my foundation, and as a Mexican-American woman, it gave me permission to build something of my own, too.” (The entire collection of essays is featured on Resy’s Dream Team Dinners event page.)

“Never in a million years did I imagine my career as a chef would bring me an opportunity to cook with Martha Stewart. She is an icon and a role model to women everywhere,” Herrera told Food & Wine. “I hopped on a call with Martha, guided her through my ideas, and she had a lot of input, which I really liked. She made a few modifications, shared some of her favorite ingredients to work with, and will even be bringing some ingredients from her garden! The thing I'm most excited about might be the ‘Martharita!’” 

In New York, Herrera will team up with Martha Stewart at Hellbender, while Chef Sam Yoo will cook alongside Questlove at NY Kimchi & Golden HOF. In Los Angeles, bakers Hannah Ziskin and Aaron Lindell will partner with culinary legend Jacques Pépin at Quarter Sheets. Elsewhere, the series brings together chefs and mentors across generations, cultures, and disciplines — from Miami’s Tam Pham and Kwame Onwuachi to a deeply personal collaboration between Masako and Ryoko Morishita in Washington, D.C.

In a moment where pop-ups, residencies, and collabs have become part of the fabric of restaurant culture, Dream Team Dinners stands out by rooting the format in something more intimate: reverence, creativity, and the chance to cook shoulder-to-shoulder with the person who changed how you think about food. It’s a tribute but also a passing of the torch.
