Police chase in San Diego ends with spike strips, standoff
SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — A Valentine’s Day pursuit ended with police deploying spike strips and a brief standoff with police.
San Diego Police Officers tried to pull over a vehicle at 3:10 p.m. Friday near the intersection of University Ave and College Ave in San Diego. Police say the traffic stop was initiated because it matched the description of an earlier call for a possible DUI driver.

According to police, the driver took off from the traffic stop and a police pursuit lasted about 10 minutes until officers deployed spike strips at the same intersection where the pursuit initially began.
After a brief standoff, San Diego Police officers took the suspect into custody peacefully. That person, who has not yet been identified, is facing felony charges for evading.
The incident and whether drugs and/or alcohol were a factor remains under investigation.
