One man killed, another hurt after interaction led to shooting outside vehicle in KC
One man died at a hospital after two people were shot Monday morning in Kansas City, police said.
Just after 3 a.m., Kansas City police officers responded to a report of gunfire in the area of Roberts Street and Bales Avenue, according to Sgt. Phil DiMartino, a Kansas City Police Department spokesperson.
Police’s preliminary investigation discovered there was an interaction between several people outside of a vehicle which led to shots being fired, DiMartino said.
When officers arrived at the scene, an adult male was suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid to the victim who was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to DiMartino. A second adult male traveled in a private vehicle to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police are investigating the incident as a homicide. No suspects have been identified as of Monday morning.
The man’s death marks the 126th homicide reported in Kansas City in 2024, according to data collected by The Star.
