Musk says he will donate to Massie amid reignited Trump feud

Elon Musk indicated on Tuesday that he will donate to Rep. Thomas Massie’s (R-Ky.) reelection campaign amid a broader feud waged by Musk over President Trump’s megabill.

Musk responded to social media personality Bryce Lipscomb, a former Michigan state House candidate, who asked on X who else would be donating to Massie’s campaign.

“Me,” quote-posted Musk.

Musk also told Massie “you’re awesome” in response to a post the lawmaker made on Tuesday, which linked to a Fox News article that said Musk would be donating to Massie’s campaign.

“You’re too kind, but thank you!” Massie said, responding to Musk’s reply. “A large part of my job is to keep government from screwing things up for the engineers and entrepreneurs who do make this world a better place. I don’t think enough people appreciate the contributions you and your teams have made to civilization.”

Massie was among two Republicans who voted against Trump’s megabill, which include several of Trump’s priorities or key campaign promises like extending the 2017 tax cuts and ending tax on tips. Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) also voted against the bill.

Massie has been a staunch opponent of the bill, writing in a post on X last month that “Big Beautiful Bill is a fiscal suicide pact between the White House and Republicans in Congress.”

The Kentucky Republican has also been a vocal critic of the Trump administration’s decision to strike several nuclear facilities in Iran amid a broader conflict between Iran and Israel.

The critiques have drawn Trump’s ire while encouraging a pro-Trump super PAC to work to unseat the GOP lawmaker.

Musk, too, has been at odds with Trump in recent weeks after his stint at the White House as a part of the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). The two had a surprisingly public fallout over social media, with Musk later saying he regretted some of what he said.

But the divide between the two men has only deepened, with Musk vowing earlier this week that he would back primary challengers to anyone who voted for Trump’s megabill.

Responding to comments Trump made to reporters in which he suggested that “We might have to put DOGE on Elon,” Musk replied, “So tempting to escalate this. So, so tempting. But I will refrain for now.”
