McDonald’s Drops a ‘Special Grade’ Garlic Sauce

McDonald’s is launching an all-new special sauce, and it’s one manga fans will love.

On Tuesday, McDonald’s announced that it’s launching a new Special Grade Garlic Sauce in collaboration with the beloved Japanese manga series “Jujutsu Kaisen.” The new sauce, McDonald’s stated in a press release shared with Food & Wine, is inspired by the Black Garlic Sauce sold in McDonald’s Japan locations. It added that it is a “garlic and soy sauce, balanced with a slight tangy sweetness.”

But it’s not just about the sauce itself — the packaging is actually pretty cool too.

According to McDonald’s, the sauces will come with eight unique lids designed with fan-favorite characters from the anime series. They include Yuji Itadori, a “rare talent not seen in a thousand years who is able to withstand the poison of Sukuna and become his human vessel,” Megumi Fushiguro, a “genius who enrolled as a 2nd-grade sorcerer and the only first-year student allowed to carry out solo missions,” and Nobara Kugisaki, a “strong-willed 3rd-grade jujutsu sorcerer who came to Tokyo from the countryside.”

The other packing features Satoru Gojo, “the strongest special grade sorcerer and teacher at Tokyo Jujutsu High,” Kento Nanami, a “junior of Gojo who became a salaryman but later returned to Tokyo Jujutsu High to become a 1st-grade sorcerer,” along with villain Suguru Geto, Mojito, and Sakuna, the “disgraced special grade sorcerer who lived over a thousand years ago and continues to threaten the present world with his reincarnation.”

Each container of Special Grade Garlic Sauce bears a character from the hit anime series “Jujutsu Kaisen.”.

McDonald’s

Fans can get the Special Grade Garlic Sauce for free starting on July 9 with any order of Chicken McNuggets or with any of your go-to orders via the McDonald’s App. Each purchase of the sauce also includes a 30-day free trial of Crunchyroll, an anime and manga service where you can watch full episodes of “Jujutsu Kaisen.”

But the sauce will only be available while supplies last, so if you want to collect them all, make sure to order early. You could also try pairing it with the new $5 value menu that McDonald’s is also offering for a limited time.
