Krispy Kreme Launches New Holiday Doughnuts

Everyone is getting into the holiday spirit at Krispy Kreme, including the Grinch. 

On Monday, Krispy Kreme announced its new holiday lineup of doughnuts, featuring none other than the coolest Whos in Whoville — and the return of one fan-favorite holiday doughnut.  

“Who wants to celebrate Christmas with Krispy Kreme?! Our Merry Grinchmas doughnuts are guaranteed to make even the Grinchiest Grinch smile,” Dave Skena, the global chief brand officer at Krispy Kreme, shared in a statement provided to Food & Wine. “At Krispy Kreme, you’re a sweet one, Mr. Grinch!”  

Starting Friday, November 29, fans can snag one of the sweet treats that are part of the “Merry Grinchmas Doughnut Collection” at a participating Krispy Kreme shop. The doughnuts include the new Grinch Doughnut, made with an unglazed doughnut base that is filled with “coal” — AKA a Cookies & Kreme filling — then dipped in Grinch-green icing with thin lines of chocolate frosting piped on top to form the character’s face, complete with a “smirky grin and buttercream hair.”

Then, there’s the Grinchy Claus Doughnut, an Original Glazed treat dipped in chocolate icing and decorated with white buttercreme, Christmas-colored crispies, and an edible, flat Grinch figurine. Also new is the Cindy-Lou Who Merry Berry Tree Doughnut, made with an Original Glazed base that’s dipped in strawberry-flavored icing, then topped with a green buttercreme tree, sprinkles, and a gold star piece.  

Returning to Krispy Kreme this holiday season is the Santa Belly Doughnut, made with an unglazed doughnut that’s been filled with white Kreme, dipped in red icing, and finished with a piped black chocolate Santa belt and belt buckle. Anyone looking for something classic can try the Holiday Sprinkle Doughnut, made with an Original Glazed base that’s dipped in chocolate icing and topped “with festive sprinkles.” 

Fans can get a taste of the holiday merriment for a limited time by picking up a Krispy Kreme dozen in shops. They can also find a six-pack featuring the Grinch Doughnut, the Cindy-Lou Who Merry Berry Tree Doughnut, the Santa Belly Doughnut, and Holiday Sprinkle Doughnut at select grocery stores. But that’s not all that the doughnut shop has going on this season. On December 12, Krispy Kreme is spreading a little more holiday cheer with the return of its annual “Day of the Dozens,” offering everyone a dozen Original Glazed doughnuts for just $1 when they purchase any other dozen at a regular price. So if you have family visiting, or want to treat all the Whos in your personal Whoville, this would be the perfect way to snag an easy breakfast.
