Julian Edelman and Tostitos Release a New ‘Salsa Cereal’
Wings? Check. Nachos? Check. Sliders? Got ’em. Now, all you need is some … salsa cereal?
On Thursday, Tostitos and legendary wide receiver Julian Edelman announced they are bringing the world Tostitos Salsa Cereal. Because anything is possible.
Wondering what this snack could possibly be? As Tostitos shared in a press release, “It’s exactly what it sounds like — eating chips and salsa with a bowl and spoon.”
As it proclaimed, “It’s a clever twist on the classic chips and salsa pairing that has been a gameday staple for decades but makes it easier than ever for football fans to enjoy the game without ever needing to miss a second of the action.”
Tostitos isn’t taking all the credit for this delicacy. The brand noted that it is a trend it first spotted on social media, specifically on Edelman’s page. The football star was even kind enough to create a tutorial on how to perfect this magical dish.
“Tostitos Salsa Cereal might sound like a wild concept at first, but you have to try it to understand why it’s a total game changer,” Edelman shared. “This instantly became my favorite way to enjoy Tostitos chips and salsa. I’m excited to finally let people in on my secret salsa snack hack and help make game day even more delicious.”
And now, Tostitos has created a Salsa Cereal Box, which includes all the fixings. Fans can enter for their chance to win one of the cereal box kits, which includes Edelman’s face on the front, by following @Tostitos on Instagram, liking the official post, and commenting with #TostitosSalsaCereal and #Sweepstakes.
Of course, you can just always make your own by doing exactly what Edelman does — take a handful of Tostitos chips, crush them into a bowl, top with Tostitos salsa, and go to town.
“As gameday staples, Tostitos chips and salsa have always gone hand-in-hand with watching football,” Leslie Vesper, the vice president of marketing at PepsiCo Foods North America, added. “Salsa Cereal is the latest way we’re bringing fans new experiences to enjoy the game and snacks that go with it.”
