I’ll Never Make Pancakes in a Pan Again After Testing This Electric Griddle

A pancake griddle is a great purchase if you make a lot of pancakes, but they can do so much more. Although I know this, I am a minimalist who didn’t have one until I tested the Ninja Sizzle Smokeless Indoor Grill & Griddle. A griddle will give you better results since it has more surface area than your average nonstick pan, which measures 10 to 10.5 inches. The Ninja Sizzle measures 14 inches, so you can fit up to six pancakes or burgers at a time. Less crowding always means better food, no matter what you are cooking. And you can cook for more people faster thanks to the added room. 

Ninja’s electric griddle is more versatile than those reversible griddles you place on the stovetop. This model has interchangeable griddle and grill plates, so you can make bacon and cheesesteaks on the griddle plate, and then swap in the grilling plate for burgers and more. It resembles a George Foreman Grill or a panini press but doesn’t have the same functionality. This is just a griddle with two plates and a knob to control the temperature and settings. Both plates have reservoirs for grease and fat, so you can keep your food as lean as possible. The nonstick capabilities are also exceptional, meaning you need little fat to begin with.

Since the plates on the Ninja are interchangeable and extremely nonstick, they are also exceptionally easy to clean. Food doesn’t get so crusted on that it’s beyond your ability to clean it off. The perforated mesh lid is designed to reduce the splatter and smoke the unit releases in the kitchen. It is advertised as smokeless, but there was some smoke when griddling items such as bacon and grilling burgers. We grilled on the countertop next to our stove and exhaust fan. Still, the mesh lid did reduce the smoke factor. You can also cook with the lid up or down.

Can you make good pancakes without this electric griddle? Sure — but my husband, our resident pancake and burger chef, swears the results are better with this Ninja in our lives. Since you can set the temperature exactly, you can tailor the results better than you can with stovetop griddles. Temperature precision always helps any recipe. As our certified household pancake tester, I can attest the results are superior. Our kids request pancakes at least once a week, and it’s also great for bacon. Easy to use and clean, it’s earned a place in our cabinet. This is a major honor for someone who tests numerous products for her job every day and has limited space.
