Tonight, the 2024 BET Awards—hosted by Taraji P. Henson for the third time—will feature a star-studded lineup of performers including Ice Spice, Tyla, Megan Thee Stallion, and Lauryn Hill. As usual, the red carpet was full of bold fashion statements. (Host Henson, for one, wore a glitzy gold Balmain number.) But it was Ice Spice who delivered the best vintage moment of the night: She plucked an archival look straight from a spring 2004 collection.
Opting for the perfect summery hue, the rapped donned a bright orange Versace dress with a keyhole cutout and swishy hemline. Again, the frock comes from the Italian label’s spring 2004 collection, but still feels fresh and modern two decades later. Clearly, Y2K style is here to stay; Amal Clooney just wore a printed dress from the very same collection this past weekend. Of course, it’s not Ice Spice’s first time reviving a 2000s design; lest we not forget she wore a denim Baby Phat look to the 2024 Grammys.
Fun fact: The star was born in the year 2000, so it’s safe to say she has every right in keeping the aughts going. And when she makes it look this good, she absolutely should.
