I-10 closed in East El Paso after pedestrian found on freeway
A stretch of Interstate 10 has been shut down after a pedestrian was found on the roadway near Yarbrough Drive in East El Paso, a police spokesperson said.
The pedestrian was transported to a hospital after police responded to a call of a “traffic hazard” about a pedestrian on the highway at about 10 a.m. Sunday, July 13, on the eastbound lanes of I-10, Detective Judy Oviedo said in a news message.

Interstate 10 eastbound is closed in East El Paso after police found a pedestrian on the freeway near Yarbrough Drive on Sunday morning. The pedestrian was transported to a hospital in undisclosed condition.
I-10 East remained closed shortly before the Yarbrough Exit past 11 a.m. with traffic backed up past McRae Boulevard, according to the Texas Department of Transportation’s highway cameras and online traffic map.

The extent of the pedestrian’s injuries, medical condition and the reason the person was on the freeway were not immediately available.
The same stretch of Interstate 10 has been the site of past suicide attempts of persons walking into traffic.
