Hertz Is Having a Flash Sale With 25% Off Rental Car Bookings

Hertz is making a fall road trip easier — and less expensive — by offering 25 percent off all car rentals across the country.

The two-day fall flash sale must be booked by Sept. 5 for pick-up through Dec. 15, the car rental company told Travel + Leisure. For the sale, the 25 percent discount applies to the pay later base rate.

“Summer may be winding down, but we know travelers are already thinking about where to go next, which is why we’ve launched our fall flash sales across brands, encouraging those to get out and travel as the seasons change,” Jayesh Patel, the chief marketing officer at Hertz, told T+L. “Whether they’re looking to take a weekend road trip to explore somewhere new or are getting a jumpstart on their holiday plans, Hertz has a wide selection of vehicles and car classes to choose from.”

A 24-hour advance reservation is required for the sale along with a minimum one-day and maximum 27-day booking. Taxes and fees are excluded.

Hertz was voted one of T+L readers’ favorite rental car companies for 2024 and offers everything from luxury SUV’s and convertibles (think: the Porsche Boxster) to classic sedans like the Volkswagen Jetta, and more. The company has rental locations across the country, including in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Orlando, Las Vegas, Denver, and Chicago.

Beyond the sale, travelers hoping to score a good deal on a rental car can save by searching through membership sites like Costco Travel and AAA, searching for discounts through frequent flyer programs, not renting at the airport, and more.

The good news for anyone hoping to take a fall road trip is gas prices are on the decline. In fact, as of last week, a gallon of gas averaged just $3.36 nationally, according to AAA. That was 14 cents lower than a month ago and 46 cents lower than a year ago.
