Living with two kids under the age of 10 and a puppy, I'm always sizing up the destructibility factor of pretty much anything I bring into my home. If it can be chewed, stained, or scratched before I've been able to break down the box it shipped in, I'm out. White sofa? I don't know her. Wooden dining table? I'm opting for the distressed finish. Naturally, when I learned that Häti Home released an outdoor version of their Teak Counter Stool ($555), I immediately pictured a pair at our kitchen island. I decided to test them out to see if they stand up to constant spills and furniture-climbing kids just as well as they do to rain storms and scorching weather.

What I Like About Häti Home's Teak Counter Stools With All-Weather Rattan

The stools came fully assembled when delivered, so it was as easy as pulling them out of the box. The wooden frame is made from high-quality, locally-sourced teak and has a beautiful finish that blends seamlessly into the all-weather rattan seat and back. They're elegant and minimal yet earthy and welcoming.

My biggest fear was that the synthetic cording on the seat and back would be scratchy and uncomfortable, but I don't notice it at all when I'm sitting on them. The cording is sturdy and supportive but has just enough flexibility so that it doesn't feel too firm and is smooth enough to not feel irritating on bare skin.

This is where my kids sit to eat a majority of their meals, so food and drinks get spilled on them constantly. I can use a soapy dish towel to easily wipe off sticky syrup residue, rock-hard bits of dried oatmeal, and pizza sauce, and the stools dry quickly. After using them daily for a few months, they honestly still look brand new. My 6-year-old even stands and occasionally jumps off of them and there's no visible wear or tear.

At $550 per stool, they're an investment, especially if you have a large island and need to purchase several. Depending on your budget, that may be a deal breaker.
