Haley needles Trump over mixed-up ballot deadline: ‘Looks like he’s confused again’

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley poked at former President Trump Friday over an apparent mix-up about the Indiana GOP primary ballot deadline.

Her quip came after Trump criticized Haley on Truth Social for “still scrambling” to get her name to appear on the Hoosier State ballot.

“Nikki Haley still scrambling in Indiana with democrat county clerk offices to “verify” signatures and qualify for the ballot three days after the deadline. Not a good look!” Trump posted on Friday.

Haley, the only remaining major candidate left challenging Trump for the Republican nomination, responded online saying “looks like he’s confused again.”

But, according to the Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales, the last day to file for the state’s primary election is Feb. 9.

The last day for Democratic and Republican presidential candidates to submit petition signatures to county voter registration officials for certification was Jan. 30, which Trump was referencing.

The state’s primary election is set for on May 7.

It’s not the first time Haley has accused the former president of being confused. Ahead of the New Hampshire primary, Haley took a swipe at Trump’s cognitive ability and said “we’ve seen him get confused.”

The GOP hopeful specifically referenced an error Trump made when he appeared to have mixed-up Haley — who was not in the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 during the riots — with former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who was. Trump told his supporters that Haley was in charge of Capitol security and he “offered her 10,000 people, soldiers, National Guards.”

In response, she raised concerns about 77-year-old Trump’s mental fitness. It is a tactic that she’s also used against President Biden, who is 81 years old — and has since launched an attack on both party front-runners, calling them “grumpy old men.”
