Dunkin’ Just Dropped Its First Shortbread Cookie and This Season’s Holiday Sprinkle Doughnuts
It’s the most wonderful time of year — at least, for those of us with a voracious sweet tooth.
Somewhere between those creamy pumpkin pies and peppermint swirl coffees, there’s just enough holiday cheer (read: seasonal treats) to go around. And considering all the holiday drops and treats this season thus far, it seems we’ve never had more options for an afternoon pick-me-up.
In other words, Dunkin’ is dropping its own take on the holiday sugar cookie — and this doughnut-shaped delight reminds us of a certain Strawberry Frosted Sprinkle doughnut from the chain. As Dunkin’ tells Food & Wine, its first-ever shortbread cookie — which is set to launch on National Cookie Day (December 4) — will be topped with pastel pink icing and a smattering of rainbow sprinkles.
We’d hate to say it, but Dunkin’ confirms this cookie is only available for a limited time. The good news: You’ll still be able to snag its pretzel-filled Chocolate Chunk Cookie, which first launched in May, year-round.
Beyond all that, the Massachusetts-based chain says we can bet on marking our calendars for Free Donut Wednesdays throughout the month of December. If you aren’t already tuned into this fan-favorite deal, here’s the low-down: Every Wednesday, reward members can take home a free classic doughnut with any drink purchase. Additionally, each strawberry, chocolate, and vanilla classic doughnut will get a holiday makeover in the form of festive new sprinkles in the shape of holiday trees and teeny snowflakes.
We’d suggest pairing any of these with Dunkin’s limited-run holiday drinks while you still can. Can’t decide? It’s tough to go wrong with the Peppermint Mocha Signature Latte, which has amassed a dedicated fanbase both online and IRL. Dunkin’ even went as far as launching the drink’s own Instagram handle in 2019 after skipping its rollout the previous holiday season, and its recent Instagram comments show that the momentum certainly hasn’t died.
The rest of this year’s winter menu stands as follows: Holiday Cookie Signature Latte, Cookie Butter Cold Brew, Toasted White Chocolate Signature Latte, and White Hazelnut Bark Signature Latte. If you’re looking for something more substantial for breakfast, though, there’s also a brand-new Almond Croissant and Hash Brown Brisket Scramble Bowl on the menu. Festivities wouldn’t be the same without the Cookie Butter-filled doughnut, either.
Holiday drinks and bites aside, Dunkin’s new doughnut-shaped shortbread cookie sounds tempting enough in itself. We wouldn’t even protest if you picked up a dozen for your office’s holiday cookie exchange — and of course, we won’t won’t tell.
