Dr. Phil to air interviews with Trump, RFK Jr. after campaign announcement

Dr. Phil McGraw will air interviews with former President Trump and former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the coming days after Kennedy announced he was suspending his campaign and endorsing Trump.

Trump’s interview with McGraw will air on Aug. 27 and Kennedy’s will air on Aug. 28. They will air on Merit Street, the cable TV network and app McGraw created.

McGraw sat down with Trump in Nevada and Kennedy in Phoenix, Ariz., after Kennedy suspended his campaign and threw support behind the former president.

Leading up to Kennedy’s speech, there was little consensus and unification among insiders about what Kennedy’s plans were.

It was reported that Kennedy had reached out to both Trump and Vice President Harris’s campaigns to meet about his political future, but only Trump accepted the offer.

Kennedy said Friday his name would remain on the ballot in most red and blue states but would be removed from swing-state ballots where he could make a difference between Trump and Harris.

In the interview with Trump, McGraw asks the former president what he thinks about Kennedy’s endorsement. Trump said he is “very honored” by it because he thinks Kennedy is a “smart guy” who “loves our country.”

“I think he’s gonna be a great asset, and will I have him in the administration? It’s possible. We haven’t discussed that but it’s possible, but I think he adds a lot,” Trump said.

Trump said he believes Kennedy will add a lot to the election. In Kennedy’s interview with McGraw, the former independent candidate admitted that polling showed him that if he stayed in the race it would have swung in Harris’s favor.
