Donald Trump says he’s ‘a big fan’ of solar power (S&P Complete Indices:SP500)
Former President Donald Trump said in his presidential debate with Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday evening that he’s “a big fan of solar.”
Trump has historically not been a big supporter of green energy. The former U.S. leader has pledged to roll back regulations and instead increase oil and gas production.
Trump said that if Harris is elected, “Oil will be dead. Fossil fuel will be dead. We’ll go back to windmills and we’ll go back to solar, where they need a whole desert to get some energy to come out. You ever see a solar plant? By the way, I’m a big fan of solar. But they take 400, 500 acres of desert soil.”
The US solar industry installed a record 40 GW of power last year, but solar growth is expected to be flat this year and next, according to Reuters.
