A man was arrested Sunday for reportedly going 115 mph on Interstate 91 in Rocky Hill where he allegedly refused to stop for a trooper and began passing other drivers.

A trooper on patrol on I-91 North near Exit 24 shortly after 12:20 p.m. spotted the driver in a blue BMW 330i going what appeared to be faster than 100 mph, according to Connecticut State Police. The trooper found that the driver was going 115 mph before initiating a motor vehicle stop.

State police said the motorist refused to stop despite the trooper’s lights and sirens. The driver then allegedly accelerated and began recklessly passing other drivers in both shoulders and the gore areas of the highway, according to state police.

The trooper abandoned the stop out of public safety concerns and was able to use the vehicle’s registration information to find the home of the owner. Residents of the home were able to identify the driver as 22-year-old Shoaib Noori of Meriden, according to state police.

Noori later returned to the residence to speak with troopers and confirmed he was the driver, state police said. He was arrested on charges of disobeying the signal of an officer, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, passing on the right, interfering with an officer and first-degree reckless endangerment.

Noori was later released on $2,500 bond and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on March 20.
