With a single guest room and too many out-of-state family members to finger-count, investing in a sleeper sofa for our home was the only feasible way to get everyone under the same roof. Looking for an option that gave off main sofa energy while still being compact enough for our small living room, I was immediately intrigued by Burrow's latest sofa addition, the Burrow Span Sleeper Sofa ($1,799, originally $2,399). The day it arrived, my kids begged to break it in that night. Since I envisioned it doubling as a sofa by day and bed for their cousins and friends at night, it seemed only right for my 6 and 9-year-old to do the honors.

What I Like About The Burrow Span Sleeper Sofa

The clean lines of the Span Sleeper Sofa make it the perfect base for practically every style. I gravitate towards pieces that walk the line between modern and traditional, so the Span Sleeper Sofa fits right into my home's aesthetic.

I'm still recovering from the trauma of sleeping on my fair share of sleepers with flimsy mattresses where you could feel the metal support bars, so I was drawn to the concept of a sofa sleeper with cushions that double as the mattress. On the Span Sleeper, the fact that you're sitting on an actual mattress when it's in sofa form makes the transition from sofa to bed ridiculously seamless. You just take off the back cushions, reach down to grab the back of the bottom cushions (there are hidden handles!) and the queen-size mattress unfolds in a single, fluid motion. The mattress is also CertiPUR-US® certified, so it meets strict guidelines for content, emissions, and durability, which is a bonus perk. My kids have slept on it a handful of times and think it's much more comfortable than the trifold memory foam mattresses I bought them for sleepovers. It's perfect for pulling out for summer movie nights in the living room so we can all cuddle up together.

When the inevitable juice spills and cracker crumbles happen, it's a relief that the stain-resistant fabric is easy to blot and wipe. Granted, I opted for the darkest hue of their performance chenille fabric, the Heather Charcoal, which I'm sure also helps to hide mess.

What's Worth Noting About The Burrow Span Sleeper Sofa

If you're used to fluffier, down-wrapped couches — think cloud sofas — you might find Burrow's Span Sleeper Sofa a bit stiff. When I initially sat on it, I wasn't expecting it to feel so firm, but the more that I sat and lounged on it, the more I began to appreciate how supportive it feels. I also like that I don't have to fluff it up throughout the day to keep it from looking sad and droopy. The shape always remains intact, even after my kids have leapt off and somersaulted across it.

Since the seat cushions transform into the mattress, the top of the seat cushions go against the floor when it's pulled out as a bed. If this bothers you, you could put a sheet down on the floor before you pull out the sleeper sofa. I like to run my Dyson vacuum over the area before I pull it out because I've realized that the charcoal-colored sofa picks up my white Maltipoo's stray hairs.
