What’s the Most Popular Bottled Water in the America?
- Americans drink significantly more water than Europeans, averaging 57.5 ounces daily, compared to Europeans’ 33.8 ounces, with more than half of U.S. adults consuming bottled water on a weekly basis.
- A Pepsi-owned brand is the most considered bottled water brand in the country, according to YouGov’s latest soft drink rankings.
- Preferences vary by gender and generation, with Gen Z favoring Aquafina (31%), women most likely to consider Smartwater (21%), and Millennials showing a strong preference for LaCroix.
According to a 2024 poll by CivicScience, the average adult in the United States drinks 57.5 ounces of water each day. That figure, Newsweek reported, is nearly twice what our European counterparts consume, at just 33.8 ounces per day. Clearly, Americans love to chug their water (and the Stanley Cup profits are here to prove it).
However, not everyone drinks straight from the tap. According to newly released data from YouGov, 52% of Americans drink bottled water on a weekly basis. And there’s a clear winner when it comes to which brand Americans reach for first.
On Tuesday, YouGov revealed the results of its annual soft drink rankings, highlighting the brands of soda, carbonated waters, and still waters that are attracting the most customers.
“In a category defined by loyalty, lifestyle, and rapid innovation, knowing which soft drink brands consumers are actively considering is more important than ever,” Kenton Barello, the vice president at YouGov America, shared in a statement. “This report uncovers the brands winning attention across the U.S. market, spanning still and sparkling water, energy drinks, and carbonated soft drinks.
When it comes to soda, the report stated that Coca-Cola still reigns supreme, with 35% of Americans saying they’d consider buying it over any other soft drink or beverage. However, Americans are reaching for soda far less often than they used to, and are opting for both sparkling and still water instead. Specifically, the report noted that Aquafina is the water of choice for the majority of its survey participants, but only by a small margin.
