My Favorite Grilling Tools are $3 at Williams Sonoma
I’ve been grilling for over 20 years. Charcoal grills, gas grills, griddles over fire pits, even indoor grill pans — if it’s high-heat and you can cook over it, I’ve probably used it. I even ran an indoor flat-top grill back in my restaurant days. And you know what I’ve learned from all of that grilling? It’s not easy.
Well, let me clarify. High-heat cooking can be hard to wrangle, especially if you’re just freestyling, but if you have the right tools and technique, it can actually be a breeze. And as we slide into yet another summer that will surely entail a ton of grilling for me, I’m returning yet again to my favorite grill tools: the humble stainless steel skewer. A set of six is usually $20, but right now, Williams Sonoma seems to be offering the exact same set (albeit with a different photo) for only $15, effectively making each skewer less than $3. Definitely grab these grill accessroies before this deal is gone.
Williams Sonoma Stainless Steel Skewers, Set of 6
Williams Sonoma
For the record, I am aware that people have been cooking food with skewers for thousands of years — I’m not trying to act like I discovered it. I just happen to think these skewers from Williams Sonoma are extremely good. Each one is just over 17 inches long and features a very sharp, angled tip (seriously, be careful) that can easily puncture anything from tofu and veggies to steak and chicken without causing a mess or the food becoming loose. Everything on the skewer says on, especially if you pack each one tightly. I love the ring on the end, which lets you pick up the skewer easily without compromising any of the food on it.
Whether you’re making your family’s favorite kebab recipe or just looking to cook a bunch of random veggies and proteins from your fridge, the skewer is a pretty genius method. For one, if you prepare everything in equal sizes, you should end up with evenly cooked food with stunning grill marks. You also save time, since you’re not individually turning each piece on the grill, and you don’t need to use a perforated grill pan that lets bits and pieces fall through the grate. In short, this is one of the most accessible ways to make uniform, restaurant-quality grilled food. After all, people have been doing it for centuries.
Grab this set of six Williams Sonoma skewers while it’s only $15. Then, you just have to work on your marinade game.
