Air Tahiti Nui Provides Free Kids Fares When Traveling With Parents
- An airline based in Tahiti is offering heavily discounted fares for children traveling to the island with their parents.
- The deal applies to routes that depart specific U.S. airports for Tahiti.
- Parents will only need to pay taxes on their child's fare throughout 2025.
A family vacation to a tropical destination just got cheaper.
Air Tahiti Nui is continuing its ‘Kids Fly (almost) Free', which provides two discounted fares for children up to age 11 when traveling with their parents from Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA) or Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) to Tahiti's Fa'a'ā International Airport. The discount is on the base fare, and the parents are only responsible for paying the taxes on the airfare, which adds up to substantial savings.
The promotion is not eligible to be booked on the website, according to a spokesperson from the airline. Families interested in booking the discounted fare can go through a travel advisor or call Air Tahiti directly.
The deal is valid through the end of 2025. For reference, adult round-trip fares are $1,480 for peak travel times and $1,280 for off-peak travel times. When Travel + Leisure went through the Air Tahiti Nui website, taxes totaled $37.50, which is significantly less than the full fare.
The airline has family-friendly amenities that are included in the original ticket price. Parents may bring a folding stroller for free, one per child aged up to 23 months.
Tahiti, the largest island in French Polynesia, is known for its beautiful beaches, high-end resorts, and incredible outdoor adventures. The island was recently called a “perfect family vacation” by T+L.
From hiking to surfing, there are activities for anyone who enjoys coastal vacations. Over 320,000 people visited Tahiti for tourism in 2024, which was a 6.9 percent increase from 2023, according to Tahiti Tourism.
For family travelers looking to save on domestic flights within the United States—or stack savings while getting to LAX or SEA for that Tahiti flight—Frontier Airlines offers free flights for children on selected dates and flights with availability for members of its Discount Den program. The paid-membership costs $99.99 annually and provides discounted fares as well as free checked bags.
